Certainty in an uncertain world

Are you sure, are you really sure? It’s often a question we are asked isn’t it? Whether it’s about certain facts in a quiz where we are part of the team answering a difficult ques-tion or sitting in the front passenger seat in a car, often looking at a map and giving accu-rate directions to the driver to help get to a particular destination.

Of course, how we then respond to this question about how sure we are can vary. Our response can be related to how sure we are about that information, when challenged about the advice we have given. However it can also depend on who is asking the question!
Our theme verse for 2013 is Hebrews chap-ter 12 v2. We are challenged to “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” When it comes to questions about his prom-ises to us and how certain we are that those promises are true, then we focus on him, his character and his faithfulness to us, drawing on past experiences.
Alongside our theme verse for the year, we reflected during January about the spiritual certainties we can have in 2013. I‘ve been asked by several people for a copy of the list so here it is. Enjoy and reflect on how great our creator God really is!
10 Certainties for 2013

1. The Bible will still have the answers.
2. Prayer will still work.
3. The Holy Spirit will still move.
4. God will delight in the praises of His
people.
5. There will still be God-anointed
preaching.
6. There will still be singing of praise.
7. God will still pour out blessings upon
His people.
8. There will still be room at the cross.
9. Jesus will still love you.
10. Jesus will still save those who turn to him.
