Whilst travelling to Manchester for the Outreach UK Conference last month we took a detour to Leeds so that we could visit Caring for Life. Since we first heard of CFL several years ago we have always wanted to pay a visit to the centre to show our support. After lunch in their fabulous restaurant and a browse in the well stocked gift shop, we were shown around some of the facilities by Natasha one of the office staff and also met with Jonathan Parkinson the CEO and son of Peter the founder of the charity.
We were told of some of the work being done with ‘beneficiaries’ of the centre, many of whom have come from a background of loneliness, learning difficulties or life on the margins of wider society. CFL tell us that despite their size they have a waiting list for people wanting support and as a Christian Charity they are wholly reliant on funding from supporters all over the UK, from Holland and Canada and so if you have never considered supporting them before we can assure you that any donations would be very welcome. As we were leaving we bumped into Tom and Erin the couple who have visited our church a couple of times in the past 2 years and it was good to exchange greetings with them.
