Fellowship News (December 2020)

Since the last time we met in the chapel building at the beginning of last month, we have once again gone through our second lockdown with livestream only for the morning services, but also changing to Zoom for our ‘virtual’ evening services. The latter seem to have been well received, as it has provided face to face contact. But now we emerge again from lockdown and from the first Sunday in December we began worshipping live in the chapel, albeit also with Livestream & Zoom, for those unable to come to the services.

Also, following the 10.30am service on 6 th December, we held a Communion service. It was a blessing being able to share together as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Communion, otherwise called The Lord’s Supper, is for all church members and baptized believers who love the Lord Jesus in sincerity and truth. If you have not yet been baptized by immersion, please ask our pastor or one of the elders if you wish to consider baptism and church membership, or if you have
questions about what being a Christian is.

On the 6h we held a service in the chapel at 6.30pm. For the time being, we are holding this service just once a month. As with the morning services, people need to have booked their seats and thus spaced out at 2 metre distances, wearing face masks, having had their entrance recorded, no singing, but with some
hymns being read, sometimes in unison, and meditated upon, then with the exit being through the back door. But it has been good to be together before the Lord.

A comment on the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) prayer diary today: ‘Give thanks that our faith doesn’t depend on physical contact, but on He whose Word ‘stands forever’ (Isaiah 40:8) and whose purposes will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.)’

May we also remind you of the different types of Rehoboth happenings in the interest of maintaining and encouraging the fellowship of God’s people. But also that others may be invited, or just ‘happen’, to pick up – tune in to our live streamed services via the church web site or on You Tube:

Important notes for our Christmas worship times
Because of the effects of the Covid Tier 2 restrictions, we will not be holding our Carols in the New Street garden this year. However our Christmas morning shorter service will be held al fresco in the church garden & car park, when we will be able to sing our carols together (though correctly socially distanced & perhaps with masks). Please come dressed accordingly for the weather the Lord gives us that morning. So our carols in the garden will also be in the light

Our usual Carols by Candlelight will be replaced by a zoomed service with recorded carols being played – please join in singing in your home, but muted!

Praise and Prayer
Give praise for the Lord’s kindness and help in sustaining the ministry and fellowship at Rehoboth during the restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. Pray the Lord will continue to bless and guide us this Christmas, with those ministering faithfully God’s word to us, and a right response in every heart to the word of the Lord.
