This month will see us observing a 2 minutes silence in our Remembrance morning service on Sunday 14th But as a Fellowship of the Lord’s people, we have others more recently to remember, with thanksgiving: We give thanks for the life of John Howbery-Gale, who went to be with the Lord on 6th October. A number of us had the privilege of attending the Surrey & Sussex Crematorium on Tuesday 26th October, when our Pastor Calix led the service of thanksgiving for John’s life. Our prayers are very much with dear Valerie, and also her family in the coming days.
Indeed, at this time of remembrance, particularly in view of the restricted period we have gone through because of Covid, may we remember and give thanks to the Lord for our dear friends who the Lord took home over the past almost two years. We think of our brother Pete Bradstock in January 2020, our sisters Pat Smith in April 2020, June Isaacs in October 2020, Doris Race in March this year, and now brother John. ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘they will rest from their labour, for their deeds will follow them.’ Revelation 14:13
