Too Cambodia…

On July 19th The Norgate family departed for Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They write:
We have so much to thank our Lord for this year!

  • We give thanks that our team mates Yuzo and Hitomi Immamura have been visiting the village of Sam Khuy regularly. This is the village where Jonathan was able to spend time building friendships, teaching Bible stories to students and reaching out to their families.
  • We thank the Lord for his provision over this year. We have all had precious time to reconnect with family and friends. Poppy and Eli have flourished in school and been very happy. Max had difficulties settling but God has been very faithful. They have all finished the year with good friends and were sad to say goodbye. But each one is very positive about returning to Cambodia..
  • The Lord has provided wonderful tenants for our house which is a huge relief and answer to prayer. We have the provision of a house in Phnom Penh to live in and the children all have places at HOPE school – a school set up for missionary kids in Cambodia. We thank the Lord for his kindness in this.
  • Please continue to pray that the Lord would be working in the hearts of the people in Sam Khuy village. We long for there to be a group of believers who can reach out to their own people with the love of Jesus and bring glory to his name there.
  • Our plan is to join an existing OMF church planting team in Phnom Penh. We hope to join themin discipling a small group of believers and doing outreach in a poor district in this city. The district is where many garment factories (“sweat shops”) are located and where many are young people with little education. They have very unhealthy and unsafe working conditions and are very poor. We hope to be involved in evangelism and discipleship in this community with Jonathan again teaching in a local school. We don’t yet know exactly how this will all take shape. Please pray that the Lord will lead us clearly to the people he wants us to serve.
  • As we have been out of the country for a while our language will be rusty! Please pray we will be diligent in study and for the Lord’s help in getting to high level of Khmer so that we can hold out the word of life to Cambodian people.
