Off to the Rock!

Most if not all of you will be aware, I believe I’ve been led to accept a new full time position in Gibraltar. Several budget airlines fly there daily from Gatwick, which makes coming back frequently at weekends and for other important occasions very easy to do. In fact Gibraltar to Gatwick by plane on a Friday evening is quicker than Birmingham to Horsham by car via the M40 & M25 and arguably a less stressful form of travel.
Perhaps the most famous hymn which talks about Jesus Christ as “the rock of our salvation” was written by our own former pastor, Edward Mote. The irony that I am now going to be living somewhere known all around the world as “the rock” hasn’t been lost on me!

I know of two couples in the church who are taking cruises next year which will call in at Gibraltar. I’m also able to host friends/visitors wanting to take a weekend or short midweek break. I was told that Gibraltar enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, so asked when the other 60 days of cloudy weather and rain occur. Mid November to mid February was the answer, so I’m duly packing a coat and umbrella!

This will be a time of change and challenge for both Judy and me and we would appreciate your prayers in this regard. I’ll be flying out with two suitcases on Monday 7th November.

Kevin
