Outreach UK held it’s 2nd conference of 2019 at the Beacon Community Church in Wibsey (Bradford) on Saturday September 21st. It was a long
way to travel for a one day conference but it proved to be well worth the effort. Several people from the local church joined with evangelists and staff from OUK to hear Simon Turpin, Executive Director (UK/Europe) from the organisation ‘Answers in Genesis’ speak on the topics of Defending the Christian Faith in a Scientific Age and Answering Atheism. At both sessions, Simon was able to clearly explain the biblical truths which
are so essential for us all to fully hold on to if we are to meet the challenges of the false teaching now being delivered in schools and colleges and which are so easily proclaimed through the mainstream media.
A key verse in 1 Peter 3:15 reads: But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, and this was the challenge we took away – How to prepare ourselves to combat the increasingly secular world views we meet each day.
As well as two well illustrated teaching sessions there was time for Q&A + plenty of literature to buy and take home.
If you have never been to an Answers in Genesis conference or workshop I would recommend them to you especially if Some of the OUK evangelists who gathered you find one in the local area.
As well as hearing from AiG we also received reports from several Associate Evangelists and were heartened by their first hand accounts of lost souls
being reached with God’s word. An update on the ‘Casting Your Nets’ training in churches was given by Trevor Dickerson Trevor Dickerson, OUK’s National Field Director, and we were also pleased to welcome both our partner organisations, hearing from Mike Brickley of the Pocket Testament
League and Andrew Halloway from the Good News newspaper.
Please continue to uphold the work of OUK in your prayers and if you want to pray regularly ask Steve about going on the mailing list for the monthly Prayer Letter where you can receive a regular update via email.
