My Church Our Mission – the local church as God’s base camp for mission

in Important & Interesting!

If you have never been to a GBM Annual Mission Day then I would encourage you to put the date in your diary for next year, Saturday 24th October
in Solihull, or perhaps 2021 when it will once again take place in London; as it is a fantastic opportunity to hear about the work the Lord is doing
across the world through GBM missionaries.
Andrew and I went as Rehoboth’s church representatives attending the AGM, but whilst that was going on there was the opportunity for others to go and hear missionaries speak. Across the whole day 12 different missionaries ran sessions (some repeating their sessions), whilst others spoke as
part of the main 3pm presentation “My Church Our Mission”. During this session the missionaries spoke about the important role their sending churches have played: from the build up to be being called and continuing through all their time on the mission field, and in Jason and
Andrea Murffit’s case when prayerfully considering the call to move to Madeira. A couple from a North Preston church spoke of the “Power of Littles” when 33 people from their church committed to giving £1 per week for 33 weeks = £1,320 extra to support the work of the Mission.

The day was rounded off with a time of worship and with Theo Donner preaching on prayer and the missionary. The day started at 11am and finished at 6pm, oh and I forgot to mention there are numerous stands with books to browse, missionaries and partner missionary societies
to talk to.
Next month Andrew and I will report back on the AGM (highlights only) and some of the sessions we went to. In the meantime if you would like to read a copy of the GBM annual report which includes photos and short updates from all the missionaries, then please speak to me.
