Many mercies in May
It promises a good month for ministry from our own brothers – five of them will be leading our worship and teaching, as well as a welcome return visit of Chris Hawthorne, pastor at St John’s Wood, who led our Church weekend last year.

Do you always pray for the ones taking our services Sunday by Sunday? The old description for booking preachers for a church was ’filling the pulpit’. Well, a) we have neither pulpit nor platform to fill, and b) may we never have the view that someone is booked to preach merely to fill the time that Sunday. May we diligently pray that those preaching and teaching the Word will be inspired of the Holy Spirit and we who listen might hear it as the Word of God and
take to heart the message given as vital to our, and others’, spiritual life. ‘Let us not give up meeting together’ while we have the opportunity. We won’t always. Remem-
ber that the preacher in Ecclesiastes warns about the ‘days of trouble’ coming ‘and the years approach(ing) when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”’

For prayer

  • Rick, Katie and family in a time of uncertainty, that the Lord would be close to them to strengthen, encourage and heal.
  • For Nick Cooke as he is now into the second half of his time in Ghana with SIM International.
  • For Kevin’s mother, Jean who is in residential care at present awaiting Social Services assessment.

Special Events!

Two special happenings this month in the food consumption department:-

Fellowship BBQ - following the morning service on Sunday 12th – all warmly invited to stay for the food and fel-
lowship.

Then, although for ladies only,

the Connections Breakfast will take place Saturday 18th at 9am at the church. It promises to be an interesting morning with Louise Barker from the
OMF British HQ at Borough Green. She will be sharing a little of the history of what was China Inland Mission and its founder, Hudson Taylor, and the vision that continues.

Preaching away
